that is the way to describe our artwork.
Soft pastels have such a lovely feel and I think they work wonderfully with the poppies.
Have you ever 'painted' with tissue paper? It is so fun to see how the colors flow. A couple of Wednesdays ago we had this fun lesson with oil pastels and tissue paper. Self portraits the Klee style. They turned out really colorful. I need to be quicker with the camera because they disappear before I can capture their art ;)
It is always rewarding when you give someone a challenge and they can do it.
A few Wednesdays ago we discussed Da Vinci and how he sketch his ideas. For example the Giant Catapult and his Studies for Flying Machines. So we tried our hands at little robots. We needed buttons to switch on and off and faces for talking... Pencil drawing always look easy and when you start, you realize that it might need more work and thought :)
I am a little behind in adding artwork from my lessons. Summer break is happening in my house.
But I really want to share with you our Georges Seurat inspired pointillism fish.
For this lesson I cut out cardboard fish for my students. 3 for each. We painted the background a solid color using acrylics and then use cotton buds to 'paint with dots'.
We felt a little 'dotty' afterwards but the results were amazing.
Take a look...
